Pastor Holly Cummings has accepted the congregation’s Call to serve as the new pastor at Immanuel Lutheran Church. The congregation welcomes the pastor and her family: Rex (husband) and Sophia (daughter).

Spaghetti Dinners by Square 1

Partners with Shades of Grace Church in caring for the last, least, lost and lonely. We also provide space in our cemetery and hold a burial service each year for Shades of Grace to respectfully bury cremains that have not been claimed in the past year

Supports the Food Pantry and other special projects at Central Heights Elementary School which is across the street from us

Altar Flowers every Sunday

Collect kits, other items and soap for Lutheran World Relief and Bags of goodies collected for veterans by Circle II

Christian Education Building used as an emergency shelter for local elementary school and Red Cross

Our History
Generations of serving God and the Community
Immanuel Lutheran Church was organized by Germanic people from the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, Pennsylvania and North Carolina. Originally, Immanuel descended from the Old Union Church (Lutheran and Presbyterian) in 1785.
In 1793 Immanuel was formed and is the oldest Lutheran Church in Tennessee and the third oldest church in the Southeastern Synod. Immanuel Lutheran Church is designated as a historic site with the Sullivan County Historical Society.
